Pathway to Biliteracy Award Information Page
The LAUSD Biliteracy Awards is a voluntary student recognition program, consisting of four awards given at different grade levels:
The LAUSD Elementary Promise to Bilingualism Award - Grades UTK and 1
The LAUSD Elementary Pathway to Biliteracy Award - Grade 5
The LAUSD Middle School Pathway to Biliteracy Award - Grade 8
The LAUSD Seal of Biliteracy Award - Grade 12
The Biliteracy Awards advance the District's commitment that every LAUSD student graduates prepared and equipped with the knowledge and skills to participate successfully in college, career, and a diverse 21st Century society. Additionally, the awards build upon the rich linguistic and cultural assets of the District and communicate that the mastery of two or more languages is an important skill that is advantageous in an ever-growing and interconnected global society.

Pathway to Biliteracy reading log formStudents applying for the L.A. Unified Pathway to Biliteracy Award must document at least 10 titles read at the students grade level in a Language Other Than English.

These suggestions begin with READ-ALOUDS; eventually, your child can also read along and then make some of these books their first INDEPENDENT READING BOOKS as well.
